The whole point of Freedom of Speech is that not everyone has the same ideas. That’s simplifying it, granted, but when it comes down to it, by allowing another person or even group of people to decide what you’re allowed to say is a violation of Free Speech. Not to get all Big Brother on your asses, but this is one step towards having less control over your life and your opinions.

The one thing I notice about this is the actual LACK of media attention and even more oddly, lack of Facebook buzz about it.

A few key points:

Apparently, the revolution will be televised.

More than one hundred uniformed police called in sick in solidarity.

Multiple angles for the pepper spray incident.

Is it acceptable to use pepper spray to corral people? Just asking.

I have friends who are in law enforcement and am actually curious what they think about all this.

Yes, I support the protesters. I believe in non-violent public assembly.

Okay, I just had to share this. This is bizarre start to finish. I receive notifications from NYC about alerts and the like in the area. Usually, it’s for major transportation issues or weather alerts or public health issues. They’re handy. I recommend you sign up for them, if you’re local to NYC. Notify NYC. I also get Silver Alerts, which are for missing senior citizens, with either alzheimer’s or dementia who have wandered off or are missing. I also get Amber Alerts. I received the notice about the missing Hasidic boy and today, I receive THIS one.

Alert issued 9/20/11 at 9 PM. The NY State Dep of Criminal Justice Services has issued a Missing Child Alert for 8 children, all named Nephra Payne ages 11 months to 11 years. Last seen near 112th Street in Forest Hills Queens at 5 PM on 9/19/11.They are believed to be traveling in a black 1996 Chevy Suburban, NY Reg: EXZ5896 but could possibly occupy a black 2003 Ford, 4-door sedan,NY Reg: ZDF6104 or a 1993 black Infiniti J30, NY Reg: ETK1598.If the children are seen, contact 1-800-577-TIPS.

I happen to be a big fan of the website Topless Robot. This headline and article is a good example why. I was thinking the EXACT same thing when I read about Bunker. After the flack that DC got over the small amount of both female characters and female writers on staff, it seems a bit…coincidental. Especially since they made sure to have the writers make the announcement.

I do not like the humid heat, this is no secret. When fall jumped my short sleeved bones yesterday and took my autumnal maidenhead, I have to say, I grinned. I know that I’m mostly alone in this, but I don’t care. I just love the cold. I can’t wait for fall to really hit with all the pumpkin stuff and wind and scarves and hot drinks. WOO!

Google is getting scarier and scarier. So, based on a conversation in an email with my lovely girlfriend, notes pop up to the right of Gmail asking, “Add dinner at Pies N Thighs at 7:30? for Sept 16, 2011? Add to calendar?” and “Coffee at 9:00 am on Saturday, Sept 17th. Add to calendar?” I’m all about making things more convenient, but it does definitely give me a Big Brother vibe.

But, but, I love my Android...
